Do you have a flat water fish pond?

Owning a fish farm is one thing, but when the summer months are dry and with little wind, the ponds water becomes stagnant which is not good for the fish. Many months go by with little or no water movement. If there is no hightide we can not adjust the water level which would provide some water movement. Fish die from lack of oxygen. It is a problem that many fish farmers have no control over as they are low income earners. They can not afford an aeration system.

Aeration boosts dissolved oxygen levels. Oxygen is needed from pond water aeration to sustain your fish, but it is also needed by your beneficial bacteria. Aeration is important because without oxygen, your pond will go into an anaerobic state.

This is one thing I want to do with our fish pond. Similar to the pond in the video and flat water during the summer months.

Besides enhancing pond fish habitats, improving water quality, reducing algae, and removing phosphorus, aeration can also break down unwanted bacteria, help with mosquito problems, and remove foul odors from a pond -- all by circulating the water and adding dissolved oxygen.

Since oxygen is absorbed only through the surface of water it is possible to have too many plants in a pond. If the entire surface is covered with water lilies or other surface plants very little gas exchange can take place unless there is a large fountain or waterfall. ... The hotter the water the less oxygen it can hold.

Since the rising cooler water contains no oxygen, the chances of a fish kill are imminent. A Pond that is Under Aerated: When a pond is under aerated, the thermocline is not eliminated, only dropped further down towards the pond's bottom. This can cause constant problems.

If you have a lot of fish in the pond, the pump must run all the time. It is absolutely necessary to have the pump working 24 hours a day – every day.

To think many third world countries have cleaner toiletry habits than so called civilized countries.

My first experience was in the Philippines using a tabo (tah-bow). The tabo and a bucket of water are located in the CR (toilet/washroom). The tabo is at first hard to use. When you find the best way to 'handle' it you will find it effective.

Now we have a bidet, which is by far easier to use. Connected at the tap outlet on a T piece. Water to the toilet and water to the bidet hose. You can have a bottom wash which I must say is refreshing. You do feel cleaner compared to the paper wipe down process.
